This business laptop is designed for the desk and will also stand a working trip. Its 16-inch screen takes two documents side by side, the full-size keyboard has the number pad that finance and data staff rely on, and the matt black case is plain, hard-wearing and unobtrusive on a meeting table.
The screen is an anti-glare LCD of 1920×1080 in the 16:9 shape. Its matt surface subdues ceiling lights and reflections from outside, and the lid opens to 180 degrees and lies flat, which is handy for showing a plan to a colleague across the table. The keys travel 1.5 mm and spring back crisply; the trackpad keeps two physical buttons along its lower edge, which makes dragging across cells more exact.
The processor has eight cores and sixteen threads, and the graphics are integrated. The machine leaves the factory with 16GB of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive, and does not falter with dozens of browser tabs, a large spreadsheet and a video meeting open at once. Undo the screws in the base and there are two memory slots, good for up to 64GB, and a spare drive bay, so that upgrading in a few years does not mean replacing the computer.
- Two USB-C ports, both able to charge the machine and drive a display.
- One HDMI port, for a projector with no adapter.
- Gigabit wired networking, a memory-card reader and a combined headphone and microphone socket.
- A 72 Wh battery, good for about 11 hours of document work; the 65 W charger reaches 80 per cent in an hour.
It is for finance, administrative and engineering staff who need the large screen and the number pad, for small and medium-sized firms buying the same machine for a whole team, and for households that want a main computer they can upgrade themselves and keep for many years. At about 1.9 kg it is on the heavy side for a daily commute and better suited to moving now and then between office and home.
In the box are the computer, a 65 W USB-C charger, a charging cable, a quick-start guide and a warranty card.
