Buying medicine online used to mean a leap of faith. New licensing rules now require a registered pharmacist to review every prescription order, a traceable cold chain for temperature-sensitive drugs, and a visible licence number on every storefront.
The big platforms welcome the change, and not only for public-relations reasons. Compliance is expensive, and the cost falls hardest on the small operators that competed on price.
For patients the visible difference is small: a short delay while a pharmacist checks the order, and a chat window that is now staffed by someone with a qualification. The invisible difference is that the pills in the parcel are what the label says they are.
