The telephoto that fits in a day bag

A 70–200 mm f/2.8 that collapses to the length of a water bottle changes what you carry.

The telephoto that fits in a day bag

Telephoto zooms used to be the reason for a second camera bag. This one extends as it zooms and retracts to a stubby cylinder, which means it rides in the same bag as everything else.

Image quality matches the older, larger design; stabilisation is a stop better. The extending barrel is the trade-off — some photographers distrust it in dust and rain.

For sport, wildlife and portraits at a distance, it is the lens on this page we would miss most.
