The arena is ready. Now for the crowds.

After two years of renovation the city's main indoor venue reopens this weekend with a full basketball schedule.

Photographed empty, the bowl looks enormous. Eighteen thousand seats climb from the court to the rafters, and a new video cube hangs where the old scoreboard used to be.

The renovation was as much about the concourses as the seating: wider corridors, more concessions and a roof that no longer leaks. The team that calls the arena home has spent two seasons playing across town and is keen to get back.

The opening fixture sold out in an afternoon, which suggests the fans are too.
